Here's how you can use your old webcam for video surveillance

With the help of this camera in the photo on the left,
Windows Media Encoder and basic computer skills you can
make a simple but good observation.
Here are step by step how to use a webcam as CCTV
1. Download the Windows Media Encoder 9 and install it on your computer.
2. Start 'Windows Media Encoder' from the Start => Programs => Windows Media => Windows Media Encoder
3. You will see a new session window as shown in the figure below. In the section assistants choose Broadcast and
select 'live event' thenclick 'OK'

4. The new Session Wizard => devise option window, as shown in
figure below in this box to select your device for encoding video
and audio, then press 'next'.

5. The new Session Wizard => Broadcast Metod window, as shown in
figure below, select Pull from the encoder then continue.

6. The new Session Wizard => Broadcast Connection window, as shown
the figure below, enter the HTTP port number to be used for
access to the stream via LAN or Internet. If not sure about this port
or the port is used by other applications, use Find a free port button.Then
click on next. Furthermore, this window will receive a URL for
Internet and LAN connections, providing you or users
to monitor webcam.

7. The new Session Wizard => Encoding opcion, as shown in the figure
below, you will need to set audio and video quality, do not forget that
higher quality requires more space on your hard disk. The figure
below is the default value.Then, click next.

8.In the new Session Wizard => Arhive File, as shown in the figure
below, click on 'Archive a copy of the broadcast to file'
transmission is required to view files in the folder to an archive file and
Enter the name of file. Then click Finish.
Finally, you will see a window as shown in the figure below.
Then click start coding, the software will start recording
Audio and video.Now you have your own surveillance for
home use. When you want to view the video recordings,
just click 'open' the video file.
